Making chocolate chip cookies the right way
I’m going to explain the procedure for making chocolate chip cookies in steps. There is also a video included so do watch it if you think there’s something that needs elaboration.
The step by step process of making chocolate chip cookie
Everyone follows their own baking style. When making chewy chocolate chip cookies I prefer mixing dry and liquid ingredients separately. It makes following the exact recipe super easy. Further, mixing dry and liquid ingredients separately makes almost no room for error.
Baking demands precision. Precision comes from measuring ingredients exactly the way they should be. I use this super economical kitchen weigh scale. It makes my life a lot easier, especially for baking. Measure all the dry ingredients in the exact weighing unit (grams. Alternatively measuring cups can also be used. You don’t have to purchase fancy kitchen equipment for baking perfectly. As far as you are following the exact same steps, the recipe will turn out to be perfect. I will recommend using standard measuring cups and filling them with flour. Make sure to shred access with a knife from the top.

Now comes the liquid ingredients. Right consistency for liquid ingredients comes with experience. But don’t worry using the kitchen master makes it a lot hassle-free. Just include sugar and softened in mixer bowl. I will recommend leaving out butter for about a couple of hours prior. In case you forgot to leave the butter out just microwave for about 5 seconds. Butter and brown sugar will mix together forming a creamy mixture. Right at this stage do add free-range/organic eggs. It’s always better to use high-quality ingredients to get undoubtedly tasty recipes like professional chefs. Adding in vanilla essence is optional. If you don’t like the smell of eggs after baking then using vanilla essence will be a good choice.
Now put together dry and liquid ingredients in a mixing bowl and give it a few rounds. Next, take the batter out of the electric mixer and add in chocolate chips. Do mix chocolate chips using a spatula to avoid chip cracking and over mixing will result in flat cookies.
PRO TIP: add chocolate chip like you really mean it (believe me you won’t regret it later)
Checking for the right dough consistency
The dough for chocolate chip cookies should not be too liquid. Neither should it be too dry to form crumbles. The dough should form a consistent form to make it roll without sticking too much on butter paper. You can see the consistency below
Making consistent chocolate chip cookies weight and shape
Making chocolate chip cookies in all of different shapes and sizes will not only affect the cooking time for each but will end up in de shaping the whole batch. To void this rookie mistake roll the dough on top of the greasy surface (butter paper) and make equal portions.
One tip; you may also use an ice cream scoop or cookie scoop which I use for this recipe.
A full batch of dough can make a lot of cookies. Occasionally I like to bake my cookies fresh and making dough and freezing it beforehand literally saves me a ton of time. I will recommend making dough in excess to use later. Have friends or relatives over without any clue? No issue. Just get your dough out, let it soften a bit and here you go. Believe me, your cookies will steal the show as these chocolate chip cookies did for me.
How to freeze chocolate chip cookies dough
There are two methods to freeze chocolate chip cookie dough. You can either freeze the dough as it is covered in a cling film. The better way which I use is to blast freeze the cookie portions.
Arrange the cookie portion over a non-stick sheet and place it inside the freezer for about half an hour or when the dough is hard enough not to stick with the other portion. Remove it from the freezer and put it in an air-tight container or zip pouches. These chocolate chip dough portions can be stored for up to 8 weeks. Not bad!!
